A site visitor, Karen, has reported that the child who posed for this photo was Margaret Hoyt, a friend of her family, who was 5 years old at the time the photo was taken. Checking the 1900 census records, I (Lois) did find a Margaret Hoyt, born November 1894, who was living with her parents in Chicago.
