"The Age of Innocence" signed DeForest, which is a pseudonym of famed illustrator RA Fox. The family of Virginia Waller (1913-2006) and I agree the illustration was based on a photo of Virginia. Virginia appears in an almost identical pose in an original photo by Tonnesen owned by the Winneconne Historical Society. In addition, she wears a dress and hat in this illustration that she also wore in other confirmed Tonnesen photos. The doll also appears in other confirmed Tonnesen photos. Image courtesy Pat Gibson.
